(Undated) — China says it launched a spacecraft Friday on the word’s first mission to the far side of the moon. The launch aims to make China the first nation to soft-land a spacecraft and a lunar rover to the dark side of the moon, that faces away from Earth and is largely unexplored. Plans call for the lander to touch down in early January. China, the U.S. and Russia are the only nations to successfully land spacecraft on the moon.
