Cat May Close Joliet Plant In June
(Joliet, IL) — Caterpillar isn’t saying when it will close its Joliet plant, but the state of Illinois say it may be by June. Paperwork filed with the state shows Cat plans to layoff 285 workers sometime between January and June. Cat announced back in 2015 that it would close the facility. The union at the plant, the International Association of Machinists, says they have a contract that extends past January. They expect the layoffs to start after March.
