2018 Deadly For Journalists
(Undated) — A new report shows more journalists were targeted by murder and violence in 2018 than any other year since records have been kept. The report out today, from Reporters Without Borders, put some of the blame on politicians and public figures around the world who stir up contempt for journalists and the media. In all, 80 journalists were reported killed, with most of those murdered because of their reporting. Nearly 350 journalists were being detained and another 60 are hostages. Afghanistan topped the list for the deadliest place for reporters, but the U.S joined the list for the first time after four reporters were gunned down in the Capital Gazette shooting in Maryland.
