Illinois Governor Open To Taking Michigan’s Carp Money
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says he’ll take money from the state of Michigan to keep Asian carp out of the Great Lakes. But Rauner doesn’t want any strings attached. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder sent Rauner a letter earlier this month offering eight-million-dollars to help build electric barriers on the Illinois River near Joliet. But that project could cost Illinois almost 100-million. Governor Rauner yesterday sent a letter back saying he’d rather use Michigan’s money to increase fishing along the river to keep the carp out of Lake Michigan.
