Trump Signs Sweeping Farm Bill
(Washington, DC) — President Trump has put his signature on a sweeping farm bill. The measure provides billions of dollars in agricultural subsidies. Many farmers and ranchers have been hit hard by the U.S trade war with China. Signing the bill at the White House today, Trump called it a great victory for America’s farmers. He said the government will always stand with the American farmer. The 867-billion dollar farm bill also legalizes production of hemp.
Hemp will be officially classified as an agricultural commodity and will no longer be on the list of federal controlled substances. Hemp is part of the cannabis family but is different from marijuana. Meantime, Trump touted new federal rules boosting work requirements for people who receive food stamps. He said able-bodied adults without dependents will have to work or look for work in order to receive food stamps.
