SCOTUS Denies White House’s Asylum Ban Enforcement Request
(Washington, DC) — The U.S. Supreme Court is denying the White House’s request to be allowed to enforce a ban on asylum requests from illegal immigrants. The vote was 5-4, with Chief Justice John Roberts being the swing vote. The Trump administration’s ban on asylum requests came on November 9th. It was blocked by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals based in San Francisco less than two weeks later. President Trump has claimed that illegal immigrants are coached in how to seek a claim of asylum in order to enter the U.S. while their cases are processed.
