NY State Provides Funding Keeping Lady Liberty Open Despite Partial Shutdown
(New York, NY) — Despite the partial shutdown, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are remaining open. New York State is providing the 65-thousand-dollars in funding with Governor Andew Cuomo tweeting that Washington Republicans can’t be allowed to close these symbols of hope and freedom. Ten-thousand people visit the Statue of Liberty every day, generating one-million-dollars in revenue. As for Ellis Island, Governor Cuomo is set to deliver his third inaugural address there on New Year’s Day.
