(New York, NY) — Some football fans may not be able to watch some NFL playoff games on their home televisions next week. The ongoing discussions between Disney and Verizon over programming fees is threatening to knock ESPN, ABC and other Disney channels of Fios’ TV network. The two companies face a 5 p.m. Monday deadline to reach a deal or Verizon will stop carrying Disney channels. It may also knock off some ABC affiliates. Sports fans would notice right away, as the Rose Bowl and some NFL playoff games are scheduled for Disney channels.
Disney took the dispute public by buying advertising urging football fans to call Verizon. The telecommunications company responded saying they are negotiating but Disney is demanding hundreds of millions of dollars for its programming despite declining viewership.
