President Trump is freezing the pay for federal civilian workers in the new year. The President signed an executive order on Friday cancelling any pay raises for non-military personnel. This follows the President proposing a pay freeze in his budget last February and his promise to do so in a letter to Congress in August. Federal employees may still get a raise if Congress passes it and the President signs it, so that might be something that can be negotiated as part of the ongoing dispute over a border wall. About 800-thousand federal employees are not currently being paid because of the partial shutdown of the government.
