Governor Rauner Signs Plan To Sell Southern Illinois Work Camp
(Springfield, IL) — A handful of southern Illinois counties are a step closer to getting a new multi-county jail. Governor Rauner yesterday signed a new law that allows the state to sell the former Hardin County Work Camp to the county for one dollar. Hardin County leaders hope to turn the former state prison facility into a multi-county jail. The state closed the work camp in 2015 in order to save money.
