The death toll in the Mexican pipeline explosion is up to 73. Officials say another 74 people were injured in the blast Friday night about 80 miles north of Mexico City. The gasoline pipeline exploded after someone drilled an illegal tap to steal fuel. Yesterday, Mexico’s president vowed to redouble his fight against an epidemic of fuel theft in the country. A Mexican gas shortage is causing long lines at stations around the country, and criminal gangs have been siphoning gas from pipelines. Fuel theft cost the Mexican government over three-billion-dollars last year.
