Plans To Raise Illinois’ Smoking Age Returns

(Springfield, IL) — Anti-smoking advocates in Illinois are trying again to raise the age to buy a pack of cigarettes. State Senator Julie Morrison has once again introduced legislation to raise the age to buy any tobacco product to 21. Lawmakers approved Morrison’s plan last year, but then-Governor Rauner scuttled it. Morrison hopes for better luck this year with a new governor.
