Righter reappointed as Republican lead on Senate’s major budget committee
Springfield, IL—State Sen. Dale Righter (R-Mattoon) will serve as the Minority Spokesperson for the Senate Appropriations I Committee in the 101st General Assembly.
The major budget committee for the Senate oversees budget plans for Illinois’ human service agencies, most public safety agencies, and a variety of general service agencies.
“I’m honored to continue to serve in this position, working to help craft responsible spending policies for Illinois’ state agencies,” said Sen. Righter. “As we transition under a new Administration, I look forward to working with the newly-elected Governor in this continuing leadership role. My goal is to represent the hardworking taxpayers and businesses of this state, emphasize the need for fiscal responsibility and allocate funding based on a balanced, accountable budget proposal.”
Sen. Righter, who has served as the Minority Spokesperson for the Senate Appropriations I Committee since 2016, also serves as the Minority Spokesperson for the Senate Executive Committee and the Senate Assignments Committee.
Righter will also continue to serve on the Appropriations II, Human Services, Insurance and Executive Appointments committees.
