Doomsday Clock To Be Announced Today
(Washington, DC) — The Doomsday Clock will be reset today. Each year, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists announces how close we are to “Doomsday.” The closer to midnight the Doomsday Clock is set, the more danger we’re in. According to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, the Doomsday Clock conveys how close we are to destroying our civilization with dangerous technologies of our own making. Last year, the Doomsday Clock was set at two minutes to midnight, which is the closest it’s been since 1953. The group said last year the greatest risk was North Korea’s nuclear weapons program. The Doomsday Clock announcement for this year will be livestreamed on Facebook and Twitter at 10 am Eastern.
