Indiana Lawmaker Pushes School Safety App Plan
(Indianapolis, IN) — A central Indiana lawmaker wants to see the state help local schools and local law enforcement bring school safety apps to the state. State Rep. Greg Steuerwald is pushing legislation that would have Indiana use its grant program to help schools and police departments or sheriff’s offices develop one-touch apps that could be used in an emergency. He says the idea is modeled after an app already in place in Greenfield-Central Schools. Law enforcement officials say having a one-touch way to communicate with teachers or principals in an emergency would be a great tool.
