*HEAVY RAINFALL LIKELY ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-70…
*Flood Watch remains in effect from this 6pm tonight through Thursday evening for Cumberland-Clark-Effingham-Jasper-Crawford-Clay-Richland and Lawrence counties.
* Periods of rain will continue through Thursday. Additional amounts in excess of 2 inches are likely, with locally higher totals due to scattered thunderstorms. This will fall on already saturated ground, meaning that most of this rainfall will be runoff.
* Should flooding occur, creeks and river banks will be the most impacted. Street flooding could also occur in locations where storm drains are blocked by debris.
*PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
