President Trump will not be informing the Senate on whether the White House believes the Crown Prince ordered the killing of Jamal Khashoggi. He declined to act on that congressional request on Friday. A bipartisan group of U.S. Senators triggered the terms of the Global Magnistky Act in October of last year, which requires the president to determine whether a foreign person was responsible for Khashoggi’s death within 120 days. President Trump has adamantly held to his relationship with Saudi Arabia and the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, even denying the findings of an investigative CIA report. White House officials maintained that the president has the right to decline these sorts of committee request at his discretion.
