Friends and family will say goodbye to a hall of famer this week. Gene Montgomery, husband of Sylvia for 64-years, and father to Vickie, Jane, Teresa, Bob, and Tim, grand dad and great grand dad to 23 wonderful kids, brother to Patsy, and brother-in-law to Dorothy.
When you thought of “Geno,” you thought of horses. Not only was he a trainer and driver, but he would also become one of the sports’ premier starters and race officials, positions he held for over 40-years. He was inducted into the Illinois Harness Horsemen’s Association Hall of Fame in 2013.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. today (2/12) at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The funeral service celebrating his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (2/13). It is requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
