According to the Illinois State Police, a trooper was in his squad car, stationary at a traffic right just after 2:00 a.m. today at Raney Street and Fayette Avenue in Effingham, when a Jeep struck the squad car. The driver of the Jeep, 45-year-old Tamra Wendt, of Effingham, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The trooper was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
