Shooting Suspect Claims Self Defense, Still Out Of The Country
(Champaign, IL) — The man who fled the United States to avoid a weapons charge for a shooting last month is claiming self-defense. WCIA TV spoke with Rod Al-Ruwaily last night. He told the station that he has witnesses who will back up his claim, but he didn’t go into just what happened. Investigators in Vermilion County say Al-Ruwaily fired a shot that hit a woman as she drove by. They say he fled the U.S., and is currently in Saudi Arabia.
