Republicans Begin Fight Against Progressive Income Tax
(Springfield, IL) — Get ready to hear a lot more about what you don’t know about Illinois’ proposed progressive income tax. Republican lawmakers in Springfield say Governor JB Pritzker still hasn’t said who will pay what under the plan. Pritzker is selling the tax as a way to take more money from people who make more money. But, Republican lawmakers said yesterday that taxpayers deserve to see how much they will be paying before they’re asked to vote on the tax.
