A black man has outsmarted a neo-Nazi group called the National Socialist Movement and is now its leader. James Hart Stern’s said his first order of business is to dismantle the organization from within. Stern has asked a Virginia judge to find the group guilty of conspiring to commit violence during the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Stern’s rise to power is somewhat unique. Stern is a civil rights activist from California who had formed a bond with the former NSM leader Jeff Schoep. Schoep had apparently consulted Stern on legal advice over the lawsuit the group was facing due to the Charlottesville rally. That’s when Stern encouraged Schoep to hand over the organization to him to ensure the organization would get a fresh start.
