CHARLESTON, IL-
Alerts notified Charleston residence early Sunday morning of a shooting near the Eastern Illinois University campus. The university stated that a shooting had taken place in the 1400 block of 7th Street, north of Lincoln Avenue. The alert notified students and residents of the shooting at around 2:00 AM Sunday morning, and urged people to avoid the area of the crime. No other details on the incident have been provided; however, the Charleston Police Department said that no further information will be provided until Monday morning in a press release.
