Connecticut Supreme Court Stands By Sandy Hook Lawsuit
(Hartford, CT) — The Connecticut Supreme Court says a gun manufacturer can be sued over how it marketed the rifle used in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. In Hartford today, justices issued a four-to-three decision that overturned a lower court ruling that the lawsuit was prohibited by a federal law that shields gun manufacturers from liability when their products are used in crimes. The lawsuit was filed by a Sandy Hook survivor and relatives of nine people killed in the massacre back in 2012. Twenty children and six educators were killed when shooter Adam Lanza opened fire with an AR-15 style Remington Bushmaster rifle. Remington has denied wrongdoing and previously insisted it can’t be sued under the federal law.
