FDA Addresses Teen Vaping
(Washington, DC) — The Food and Drug Administration is proposing new measures to crack down on the use of e-cigarettes by minors. The FDA released a statement Wednesday saying there’s been an “epidemic-level rise” in teenage vaping, and that the new plan would crack down on youth access to flavored e-cigarettes. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said evidence shows youth are getting flavored e-cigarettes from both brick-and-mortar retailers and online, despite federal age restrictions. Gottlieb said the most recent data show more than three-point-six million middle and high school students in the U.S. were e-cigarette users in 2018, which is up one-point-five million from the previous year.
