Kids Plan Global Walkout For Climate Change
(Stockholm) — Kids around the world plan to skip school Friday to demand action on climate change. Students are expected to protest on March 15th as part of the #FridaysForFuture movement. The movement began in August when 16-year-old Greta Thunberg of Sweden started skipping school on Fridays to protest outside of Sweden’s parliament. Her protests have inspired thousands of young people around the world. Students in 12-hundred cities in dozens of countries plan to join the strike this Friday, in what could be one of the largest environmental protests in history. Last week, a group of U.S. climate scientists released a letter in support of the movement, saying the students’ demands for immediate action on climate change are consistent with the latest science.
