Quad Cities Lawmakers Don’t Buy WIU Cost Report
(Macomb, IL) — Illinois lawmakers from the Quad Cities aren’t buying a new report that says Western Illinois University’s Quad Cities campus is a drain. State Rep. Mike Halpin yesterday said the numbers that a WIU-Macomb professor used to create the report paint a distorted picture of how the school spends money. State Senator Neil Anderson says the two campuses are part of the same university, so one cannot be a drain on the other. The report, which was released earlier this week, said WIU’s Macomb campus is subsidizing the Quad Cities campus, and is losing money while doing so.
