Coroner’s Jury Rules Toddler’s Death A Homicide

(Decatur, IL) — Investigators say a young central Illinois girl died from a combination of neglect and the cold. A coroner’s jury in Decatur yesterday officially ruled two-year-old Ta’Naja Barnes’ death a homicide. Police say she lingered for about an hour before she died last month. Her mother and her mother’s boyfriend are both facing murder charges in the case.
