Postpartum Support International On FDA Treatment
(Portland, OR) — Postpartum Support International is lauding the FDA’s recent approval of the first treatment indicated for postpartum depression. A statement from PSI reads in part, “We want families to realize that medications currently available are effective for many, but having an innovative treatment that has been specifically studied in for PPD and shown efficacy and improvements is an important milestone.” The new medication, which will require an infusion administered in a hospital setting, is expected to be available this summer.
