Cubs Defeat Red Sox In Second To Last Spring Tune-up Before Season Opener
(Mesa, AZ) — Cole Hamels pitched five innings and hit a game-tying home run as the Cubs defeated the Boston Red Sox 3-2 at Sloan Park. Hamels’ home run tied the game at one before Anthony Rizzo doubled in Kris Bryant to give the Cubbies the lead for good. Ben Zobrist led off the game, followed by Bryant and Rizzo in what could be a preview of how Joe Maddon plans to approach the top of his lineup this season. The Cubs will play the Red Sox again today before leaving Arizona and heading to Texas to open the regular season against the Rangers on Thursday.
