MATTOON – Donations are being accepted through April 9 for the spring book sale at the Mattoon Public Library.
The sale is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 13 in the Community Room in the library’s lower basement.
Books, movies and music in good condition are accepted for the sale, which uses a donation-only format in which patrons take what they want and pay what they can. Proceeds benefit the library’s collection development.
“We have a variety of books, including children’s, young adult, fiction, nonfiction, health/wellness, cookbooks and other specialty items,” said Beth Pugh, the library’s community engagement director. “We also have some books that recently came off our shelves as we make room for new items.
“We accept book donations throughout the year,” Pugh said. “The items in this sale represent a variety of interests. The format makes the sale affordable for everyone and meets our goal of getting books into the community.”
While the book sale opens at 8 a.m., the rest of the library has its regular hours on Saturday of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
