Charleston Fire Responds to Structure Fire
On March 26, 2019 at 11:50 pm the Charleston Fire Department was dispatched to 207 Vine in Charleston for a report of a structure fire.
Upon arrival crews found smoke and heavy fire coming from the rear of the structure. Crews made and interior fire attack and were able to bring the fire under control within a few minutes. The structure was an unoccupied residence. The structure sustained heavy fire damage within the kitchen and smoke and water damage throughout the home.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal was contacted to assist in the investigation. No injuries were reported. It was determined that the fire had started in the kitchen area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Crews were on scene until around 5:30 am.
The Charleston Fire Department was assisted by Mattoon Fire Department, Charleston Police Dept., Coles-Moultrie 911, Ameren CIPS, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. .
