Trump Administration Working to Overturn MLB – Cuba Deal
(Washington, DC) — The Trump administration is working to overturn an agreement allowing Cuban baseball players to play on Major League Baseball teams. A senior White House official tells NBC News the administration has the option to decide if the Cuban Baseball Federation is part of the Cuban government. The Trump administration has been pulling back from closer ties with Cuba that were enacted during the Obama administration. MLB and the Cuban Baseball Federation reached a deal at the end of 2018 to make it easier for Cuban players to join U.S. teams without having to defect.
