(Chicago, IL) — The City of Chicago is filing a lawsuit against Empire actor Jussie Smollett over his claims he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack. The city had threatened the lawsuit if Smollett didn’t repay it for the costs of the investigation after police accused him of faking the attack. The lawsuit claims Smollett planned the attack with two brothers and filed a false police report. Smollett was charged for filing a false report, but those charges were abruptly dropped. Police and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel were not happy about the decision by prosecutors. Smollett maintains he was telling the truth.
