Anyone who wants to be a teacher in Illinois is looking at 400 dollars in tests just to apply. The Illinois State Board of Education earlier this week said it wants to see if the cost to become a teacher is too high. In addition to the testing requirement, wanna-be teachers must get fingerprinted and have a background check. That’s on top of the cost to get a bachelor’s degree. The State Board is looking for ways to solve the state’s teacher shortage.
