Sheriff Helps Save Woman After DUI Crash Outside His Home
(Douglas County, IL) — The Douglas County Sheriff is credited with saving the life of a woman involved in a DUI crash outside his home. Sheriff Joshua Blackwell and his dad were standing outside Tuesday afternoon when they heard the crash. A woman was driving and a man was in the passenger seat when the driver overdosed and collided with a tree on Blackwell’s property. Blackwell’s father used CPR to get the woman breathing and her heart beating again. Arcola first responders were able to keep her alive until she could be airlifted to the hospital. Police found meth and heroin in the vehicle and are continuing to investigate.
