Judge, Christensen Discuss Mental Health Defense
(Peoria, IL) — Accused kidnapper and killer Brendt Christensen says he is on-board with his attorneys’ decision to drop a mental health defense. Christensen is facing federal kidnapping and murder charges in connection with missing U of I visiting scholar Yingying Zhang. The judge called the defendant and his attorneys into his chambers at yesterday’s hearing to discuss their decision on Friday to withdraw a mental health defense. Back in court, the judge recapped the conversation, saying Christensen is fully aware of the possible consequences of the change in strategy.
