Work on Illinois 316 bridge begins May 6 Repairs will require road closure
CHARLESTON — The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that repairs to the bridge that carries Illinois 316 over Riley Creek, about 6 miles west of Charleston, will begin Monday, May 6.
To facilitate the repairs, Illinois 316 will be closed. Access to all entrances will be maintained during the project, which is expected to be complete by Aug. 1
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
