According to the Mattoon Police Department, a sixth-grade boy riding his bicycle was struck by a car at 9th Street and Marion Avenue this afternoon. It appears the boy rode his bike into the path of the vehicle. Reportedly, he was alert and talking soon after the collision. He was transported to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for treatment.
