Former Southern Illinois U.S. Attorney’s Affair Created Hostile Work Environment
(Fairview Heights, IL) — A newly released report says Southern Illinois U.S. Attorney Steve Wigginton’s affair with a subordinate violated ethics rules and caused a hostile work environment. The report was issued by the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General. The high-level supervisor involved received cash awards and raises during the affair. The report also says the affair gave her “tremendous influence” over the office. Wigginton resigned his post in November 2015 after the affair became public.
