Pavement repairs on Illinois 316 begin May 23
CHARLESTON — The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that pavement repairs along Illinois 316 in Coles County will begin Thursday, May 23.
The work zone runs from just north of Illinois 16 to D Street in Charleston, and daily lane closures will be required with one lane in each direction open at all times. The repairs are expected to be complete by July 5.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
