There was an update on the US National Weather Service Central Illinois Facebook page regarding severe weather in the region over the course of the night. Here is the update:
“8:15 pm Update:
The latest guidance from the Storm Prediction Center indicates that the threat of severe weather has expanded across all of central and southeast Illinois tonight. In areas west of I-55, the main threat will be before midnight, with areas east of there more after midnight. As the storms push more into eastern Illinois, damaging winds will become the primary threat. However, further west, high winds, hail and tornadoes are all possible. Know what to do if a warning is issued while you are asleep.”
We’ll keep you updated on any watches, warning, and statements as they come in both here and on-air!
