Traveling Children’s Puppet Show at Mattoon Public Library
MATTOON – A traveling children’s puppet show is set for Wednesday afternoon as part of the Summer Read kickoff week at the Mattoon Public Library.
Madcap Puppets presents “The Great Space Caper,” at 1:30 p.m. in the library’s second floor children’s area.
Madcap describes the show like this: “Famous space explorer, Buzby, crash lands his spaceship on a strange planet and forms an unlikely friendship with a stranded alien named Galax. Together, they uncover the mysteries of our universe as they search for a new planet that the funny little creature can call home.”
The theme for the library’s summer-long activities is “A Universe of Stories.” The puppet show is the first space-themed activity. The library is hosting a traveling space suit show at 9:30 a.m. on June 13.
“These two professional acts help us showcase our summer read theme and other activities that are designed to be fun, interactive and promote development throughout the summer,” said Beth Pugh, the library’s community engagement director.
Children and young adults may qualify for weekly prizes throughout the summer by registering at the library or on the website, www.mattoonlibrary.org.
