Trooper Recognized Over 70 Years After Death On Duty
(Paxton, IL) — A state trooper who was killed while on duty over 70 years ago is getting special recognition. Legislation passed the state House that would name a part of Illinois Nine after Trooper Marvin Archer. Archer was shot to death in 1946 after he and another officer pulled over a car on East Pells Street. The legislation already has a sponsor in the Senate and is expected to be addressed there in the fall.
