Trump Admin Imposes Tough New Sanctions On Iran
(Washington, DC) — The Trump administration is imposing tough new sanctions on Iran. Talking with reporters at the White House today, President Trump said an executive order will place “hard hitting” sanctions on Iran. He stressed that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon and said pressure on Tehran will continue to be increased. Iran shot down an unmanned U.S. military drone over the Strait of Hormuz last week. Trump said the new sanctions were in the works before the drone strike. Trump argued that sanctions are crippling Iran’s economy.
Trump said the new sanctions will deny Iran’s Supreme Leader access to key financial resources and support. He criticized Iran’s aggressive and provocative actions. Trump accused Iran of being the number one sponsor of terrorism in the world. He said he would love to sit down and negotiate a new nuclear deal with Iran. Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear accord that was negotiated by the Obama administration. Trump also said he knows “many Iranians living in New York” and said they are “fantastic people.”
