(New York, NY) — Netflix is losing “The Office” starting in 2021. NBC plans to take back the popular sitcom for its own streaming platform when the current contract with Netflix expires. Netflix made the announcement on Twitter. The show began airing on NBC in 2005 and has been a ratings hit. Netflix has had the show’s rights since 2007 and reportedly wanted to keep the rights. However, competition for streaming services is heating up and more production companies are starting their own services and need content.
