Durbin And Duckworth Call For Extended Netting At MLB Parks
(New York, NY) — Two United States senators representing Illinois are calling for all 30 Major League Baseball teams to extend protective netting to the right and left field corners. In a letter sent yesterday to MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth said the extension of protective netting is needed to improve fan safety. The letter follows a series of incidents recently in which fans were hit by foul balls at major league ballparks. A two-year-old was seriously hurt last month in Houston after being hit by a ball off the bat of Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr.
