Illinois Business Groups View Historic Legislative Session As Mixed Bag
(Springfield, IL) — Some Illinois business groups are viewing the historic legislative session as a mixed bag. President of the Illinois Retail Merchants Association Rob Karr said yesterday that the 15-dollar minimum wage hike, the cigarette tax increase, and the higher gas tax will hurt general and smaller convenience stores in particular. Karr added that the repeal of the state’s franchise tax, tax incentives for data centers and large-scale projects, protection of a retailer’s tax credit, and the streamlining of a manufacturer’s purchase credit are all wins.
