State Police Warn Of Fake GoFundMe Pages For Fallen Deputy
(Lewiston, IL) — The Illinois State Police are warning people to be careful in donating to the family of a fallen western Illinois deputy. The state police yesterday said there is at least one fake GoFundMe account that is claiming to raise money for Deputy Troy Chisum’s family. Troopers say the ‘Deputy Troy Chisum Memorial Fund’ is the only verified account for the family. Police say scammers often take advantage of officer deaths to try and steal money.
