Illinois Rejecting Federal Funds To Avoid Abortion Referral Gag Rule
(Chicago, IL) — Illinois is rejecting some federal grant funds to avoid a new abortion referral gag rule. The Trump administration announced Monday it would start enforcing new rules in the Title Ten family planning program. Clinics accepting federal funds will be prohibited from helping women find a doctor who performs abortions. The state’s announcement came two days after Planned Parenthood of Illinois said it would no longer accept federal funds.
